Chelsea Win the 2019 Europa League
Chelsea defeated Arsenal 4-1 in the 2019 UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at the Baku Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. It was Chelsea's second Europa League title and their first major European trophy since winning the Champions League in 2012.
Chelsea took the lead in the 49th minute through Eden Hazard, who converted a penalty after Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech brought down Olivier Giroud. Arsenal equalized in the 60th minute through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Chelsea regained the lead in the 65th minute through a stunning strike from Hazard.
Chelsea extended their lead in the 72nd minute through Pedro, who finished off a fine move involving Hazard and Willian. Arsenal were reduced to 10 men in the 81st minute when Granit Xhaka was sent off for a second yellow card. Chelsea added a fourth goal in the 90th minute through Giroud, who headed home a cross from Mateo Kovačić.
