Union Berlin Lose Sixth Bundesliga Match
Freiburg Claims Victory Over Struggling Union Berlin
No Wins in Last Five Matches
FC Union Berlin's dismal run in the German Bundesliga continued on Saturday as they fell 2-1 to SC Freiburg at the Europa-Park Stadion. The defeat marks Union Berlin's sixth loss in their last five matches, leaving them dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Freiburg, on the other hand, continued their impressive form, moving up to sixth place in the table. The win was Freiburg's fourth in their last five matches, and they now sit just one point behind fifth-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The match was a tale of two halves, with Freiburg dominating the first half and Union Berlin coming out stronger in the second. Freiburg took the lead in the 20th minute through a Vincenzo Grifo penalty, and they doubled their advantage in the 40th minute through a Kevin Schade goal.
Union Berlin pulled one back in the second half through a Sheraldo Becker goal in the 60th minute, but they could not find an equalizer. The defeat leaves Union Berlin in 14th place, just two points above the relegation playoff spot.
Union Berlin's next match is away to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Tuesday, while Freiburg will host Hertha Berlin on Wednesday.
