Alcaraz moves a step closer to maiden French Open title
PARIS - Carlos Alcaraz outlasted Jannik Sinner in an engrossing five-set battle on June 7 to reach his first French Open final where he will face seventh seed Andrey Rublev.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both players trading blows from the baseline. Alcaraz eventually prevailed 6-3, 6-1, 6-7(8), 5-7, 6-3 in a match that lasted more than four hours.
The win was a major upset, as Sinner was the higher-ranked player and had been in impressive form coming into the tournament. However, Alcaraz showed great composure and determination to come through in the end.
Alcaraz will now face Rublev in the final on June 11. Rublev advanced to the final after defeating 11th seed Jannik Sinner in straight sets in the other semi-final.
