Macron Wins French Presidential Election
Le Pen Concedes Defeat
Emmanuel Macron has won the French presidential election, defeating far-right candidate Marine Le Pen in a runoff vote. Macron won with 58.5% of the vote, while Le Pen received 41.5%.
Le Pen conceded defeat shortly after the results were announced, saying, "The French people have made their choice. I congratulate Emmanuel Macron on his victory."
Macron's victory is a relief to many in France and around the world who feared that Le Pen's election would have emboldened far-right movements across Europe. Macron has promised to unite the country and to work to address the concerns of all French people.
